You may enter two stocks, one for (i) and one for (ii). More than one person may enter the same stock. The deadline for the Februrary competition is midnight on Tuesday 31 January 2012.

>20% UP
Ithaca Energy (LON:IAE)
-20% is ~205p. I think any bid with a chance of acceptance would come in at or a bit above this price.
>20% DOWN
Borders And Southern Petroleum (LON:BOR)
More likely than not a failed first attempt in the Falklands.
Thanks FB.

Good logic from jseth. Have to agree with both.
On the up side, though, I will formally go for Global Petroleum (LON:GBP). There could be enough news in Feb to spark that sort of move. I doubt that it would come out top however.

>20% UP
Genel Energy (LON:GENL)
Drilling & corporate activity hotting-up in Kurdistan, with majors semingly moving in on the licences atop billions of barrels. Genel shares 80% of the Ber-Bahr licence with GKP which is currently being explored with the Ber Bahr 1 explo well, and has plenty else going on at the Taq Taq and Tawke fields, etc...
No down.

Morning,
GKP for the 20% up form me this month.
LGO for the 20% down...
Well, depending on the timing of the announcement, Aminex (LON:AEX) is a certainty for a 20%+ move (up or down). So, if theres no news by the cut off date then Aminex (LON:AEX) is my choice for both up and down.
If we do have news then Cove Energy (LON:COV) for the up on the possible annoucement of a takeover - today's RNS re tidying up the package is a good step forward.
Up Ascent (AST) please. Still seems ridiculously undervalued to me, following the RNS of 25/11/11. Recompletion of PG-10 and PG-11A is/was scheduled for Jan/Feb so hopefully some good news to come in February.
No down.

Don't know about a 210% move up for February...But I think 20%+ is possible for PTR & SOU in Feb with drilling results due from both any day now.
I will go for PTR as I think it has more upside.
I hold both. No down for me.
Thanks
Are you sure you don't want Soco for the 20% down Isaac? :)

Thanks Isaac. 210% was a typo error. Should be 20%. Now corrected. My fingers must have put on weight recently! :-) fb
