After a few month's work we are glad to say that we've rolled out some sweeping site upgrades today. Most of these are hidden behind the scenes in preparation for the launch of Stockopedia Europe within the next few weeks. On our live web servers we are now analysing, ranking and screening over 8000 shares. I'll update more thoroughly on our multi-market capabilities when Europe is launched officially, but in the meantime I'll highlight a few of the great new features we are launching today.

Share directory

We've put together a much more browsable Share Directory. It allows subscribers not only to browse the entire universe of shares in their Stockopedia edition, but also the investment trusts, ETFs, preferred shares and indices available. When viewing the directory you'll also notice some exciting new Stockopedia Rank columns explained in more detail below.

Ranks

Stockopedia Ranks

Learning the jargon of investing - for example terms such as EBIT/EV, the F-Score and Relative Strength - can take a lifetime. It's a real shame that so many newcomers to the stock market are intimidated and turn away as a result. While we do all we can to provide popup definitions and help around the site I'm very conscious that there's scope for Stockopedia to make it more obvious when a stock is cheap, good quality or fast growing.

It's for this reason that we've launched a 'beta' set of Stock Ranks for every stock in the system. We discussed the creation and performance of a blended ValueRank in a previous article and have used a similar strategy to launch a GrowthRank, QualityRank and MomentumRank. We've also experimentally designed a CompositeRank which equally weights each of these four ranks.

Momentum Rank

Each of these ranks is composed of a selection of different ratios, chosen for their proven capabilities to outperform the market. While we haven't backtested these ranks yet, we anticipate doing so in coming weeks. We also anticipate that the composition of these ranks may change as we hone the recipes and gather feedback from subscribers. Over coming months we'll be broadening our library of composite ranks - please do get in touch with ideas or reference materials.
