Who will win Euro 2012?
I have no idea. But I think Germany will go far. I have backed Germany at 4.8 to win Euro 2012, the strategy is as Germany progresses I would expect the odds to shorten at which point I will cash out of my bet where regardless of who wins I make a bit of money.
England may do well as there is'nt as much hype about them in this tournament so less pressure.

It is true that Gade's chances improve if Chong Wei isn't fit - as do everyone else's. Gade has lost 16 out of 18 matches against Chong Wei....but has also lost 17 out of 20 against Lin Dan. More worryingly he has lost 8 out of 11 against Chen Jin, who is his likely quarter-final opponent to judge from the seedings.
I think Gade is a bit too far over the hill (though almost all of the top players are right at the end of their careers)....but it is very difficult to call the results of individual matches, because there are frequently only a couple of points between winning and losing. It should also be noted that there is a group stage first, with 16 groups and 16 seeds - and I would think it highly likely that a third of the seeds won't make it through their groups.
Plenty of players can be considered to be dangerous floaters when the groups are drawn - Boonsak Ponsana of Thailand (winner of last month's Singapore Open), Kevin Cordon of Guatamala, Kashyap of india and Pablo Albian of Spain all look ones the seeds will hope to avoid. Personally I hope that Kevin Cordon does very well - he is probably Guatamala's best shot at a medal and will be carrying their flag.
Probably best to look again when the full draw is made.

That pair have a realistic chance of winning - but I very much hope they don't!
IMO they take the usual gamesmanship much too far (usually by pretending to be ready to receive the serve and then withdrawing at the last minute....I hesitate to use the ch*** word - but they sail much too close to the wind IMO and should be faulted for it).
If you want a European medal shot in the badminton then look no further than the British pair in the Mixed: Adcock and Bankier.....though the draw will be very important.
Usain Bolt: The Fastest Man Alive :
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b01l1xyh/Usain_Bolt_The_Fastest_Man_Alive/
Interesting to watch
I will also watch the following tommorow hopefuly :
Can Anyone Beat Bolt?
Can anyone really catch the fastest man who has ever lived? This follows the fortunes of five athletes, all chasing the dream of winning the 100m at the Olympic Games in London.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b01l2104/Can_Anyone_Beat_Bolt/
He is the fastest man who has ever lived and on 5th August the world will be watching and expecting Usain Bolt to reclaim the greatest prize in the Olympic Games, the men's 100 metres title. But there are five men who have been thinking the unthinkable, five men preparing and plotting to defeat the man they say cannot be downed. Five men devoted to beating Bolt.
They are: Jamaica's Yohan Blake, the current world champion, who is Bolt's training partner and strongest challenger; Asafa Powell, often the forgotten man of Jamaican sprinting, but still the last man to hold the world record before Bolt; Tyson Gay and Justin Gatlin, who lead the American charge hitting top form when it matters most; and Europe's best hope, the Frenchman Christophe Lemaitre, who is proving that white men can sprint and take on the very best.
This film follows the fortunes of the world's best sprinters as they prepare for that ultimate showdown at London 2012, from the supremely confident superstar Bolt to his focused, sometimes shy, rivals, determined to prove that Bolt is just a man.
We witness the sacrifice and growing self-belief of these athletes as they push themselves to the limit physically and mentally to claim the greatest prize in sport. All the time obsessed with their quarry, the tall Jamaican who rewrote what was possible in human speed.
Can they really beat Bolt when it matters most? Do the five strongest contenders have what it takes? What will it take? Will Bolt beat himself?
Narrated by Reggie Yates and with expert contribution from sprinting icon Michael Johnson, Can Anyone Beat Bolt? is a fascinating examination of five super-fast men and one undisputed king.

They made the draws today for the Olympic badminton.
Very good draw for Gade - who is a shoo-in to reach the Semis, I think (partly because the number 3 seed Chen Long might lose to Boonsak Ponsana) - but would then almost certainly face Lee Chong Wei (if he's fit!). OTOH, "my man" might have beaten Lee Chong Wei in the quarters ;-)
Not such a good draw for Raj Ouseph, the Brit - who has got the dangerous Kevin Cordon in his group and who would meet Lin Dan in the semis if he can get out of his group and then beat the 6th seed Santosa (though neither is impossible, as he has beaten both - albeit he hasn't played either of them in the last 5 years).
Quite a decent draw for our Adcock/Bankier in the Mixed - plenty of time to limber up in the group and with two to go through it seems to me they've got every chance of going all the way!
ee predictions:
Mens Singles: Lin Dan
Mens Doubles: Chung & Lee
Womens Singles: Li Xuerui (the spooky soundalike of the bought-out SOCO International (LON:SIA) minority ;-))
Womens Doubles : Wang & Yu
Mixed Doubles: Adcock & Bankier (yes, the Brits!)

Re Powell it seems that his coach is at least talking a good game....though some big names will have to eat their words if he wins (eg Roger Black and Michael Johnson were agreed on Five Live yesterday that Powell "won't win of course"). Quietly confident...if he is fit enough to make the final, he won't be starting it at 50/1.
Also have now backed my view on Adcock/Bankier in the Mixed doubles badminton (small stake - the odds aren't wildly wrong at this point), but I'm still trying to back another outsider in the mens at a sensible price.
Olympic Individual Time Trial - Wiggins looks good to me with Cancellara doubtful.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2012/jul/29/london-2012-olympics-cycling?newsfeed=true
So, IMHO a contest only between to Wiggins or T Martin with Wiggins very likely to win.
Odds at bookies are around 1.3-1.5:

Still plenty to back on betfair at 1.61 and 1.62.
RE: the sprinting, you are brave to bet against Bolt. Can't see anyone touching him. Totally agree with Johnson.

Its purely an odds game. Bolt has an injury niggle. It may well not be a big enough problem to stop him winning - but 50/1 is too wide for someone who is so close behind. Powell's problem previously has partly been that everyone expected him to win - now they don't...they expect him to be beaten by both Blake and Bolt. Takes the pressure off.
One of my badminton punts has fluffed it over the weekend......Adcock and Bankier blew a winning position in BOTH their first group games in the mixed, so even if they beat the top seeds (as I think they might, spurred on by pride) they still won't qualify..
Meanwhile, I was at a couple of the weekend sessions of the badminton and saw a lot of mens doubles. Boe and Mogensen were ruthlessly efficient and seem in good form, but my favourite pair to watch (by a long way) are the young Thai pair ISARA B / JONGJIT M who thrashed their opponents in both their group games, including the Korean 4th seeds. They won't win the whole thing, but look out for them* if you want to see how mens doubles should be played!
* Their next match is scheduled for 2.17pm today ...but is on court 2 which may not be on TV (though there are two badminton channels on the BBC's coverage - one shows court 1 and one shows the better of the other two matches.....though unluckily they are on court at the same time as badminton God and Chinese favourite Lin Dan ......so you wouldn't be able to hear much commentary anyway!). Take the scheduled time as a guide - they could easily run late..

Sure, and I guess that's where we see it differently. I'd put his chances of beating the rest of the field at 1/200 ish but clearly I wouldn't be happy laying him.

.....mmmm.......well, Cordon just got though to the last 16, taking down Raj Ouseph (the last Brit) in the process.
Kashyap also got out of his group this morning, taking down the longshot I bet on.......
....should've backed one of the unseeded longshots I picked out.
Boonsak Ponsana and Pablo Abian both lost to much higher-ranked opponents....so at least the formbook held in part.

MO FARAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!! JESICCA ENNISSSSS!!!!! Greg Rutherford!
Amazing night for TEAM GB Athletics!!!

True. Astonishing.
Somehow my jammy son-in-law got a late ticket from a mate and was actually there! Awesome stuff really, especially on top of three other golds today (and Andy Murray having two shots at Gold tomorrow too).
ANDY MURRAY HAS ARRIVED!! HE should win a Grand Slam within the next year IMO.
GO Team GB!
Soco it's your turn next....Gold..... :-)

Before you get too excited - The olympics are not a patch on a grand slam.
However, it should give Murray confidence in beating Djokovic and Federer in one tournament!

....mmmm....interesting to see my three Wimbledon bets (Murray, Federer and Del Potro) on the podium in the order of size of my Wimbledon bets.
I'd have done better rolling over the Wimbledon profit into a straight forecast on the Olympic tennis rather than changing sports ;-/
Good win for Bolt yesterday - very authoratative.
Meanwhile in the badminton:
Apart from the ruckus in the womens doubles and the pitiful underperformance of the British mixed pair (losing twice from winning positions) things went pretty well to form in the latter stages. Great mens singles final yesterday with Lin Dan and Lee Chong Wei.....21-19 in the deciding game (not that anyone will have noticed, given the huge and deserved focus on Brit achievements this weekend).
Mobot - Inspiring a nation...
Whose going to win the premiership this year?
Probably City or United.
In order to win the Premiership I think the winner needs to win most of their home games.
Last season City on 18/19 Home games and Utd won 16/19 home games.
I think one can make a reasonable return from from backing these two teams to win when they play at home.
I've backed City to win at home today against Southampton.
We will see.
A rollercoaster....City up 1-0...you would'nt really expect Southampton to score....they score 2 in quick succession.....City respond in fine style with another 2 goals.....Biut of a Roller coaster! Bad miss on the penlaty from Silva early on.
Tempting to back United @1.94 to beat Everton to get 3 points tommorow in order to keep up with City.
I think United should win tommorow - But I am going to be sensible - back off and just watch & be patient. I want to take a more disciplined approach where I am more selective in what I punt on rather then bet on one thing after another like some mad gambler.
I only really want to take the low hannging fruit opportunities - The odds will be smaller on these but as long as I am winning I don't mind.
United beaten by Everton....Fantastic result....Glad the Isaac sixth sense kicked in and I stayed away.
Tempting to back Chelsea @ home to beat Reading on Wednesday.
