I've written elsewhere about the obvious limitations of TA applied to individual stocks http://www.stockopedia.co.uk/content/technical-analysis-on-display-51278/but I've been a fan for years of macro charts - using them in part to bail out of commodity equities to a greater or lesser extent in 2008 and this year in May. (Not that that has stopped me buying commodity stocks over the past 6 months ,it just means I've…

Rather a good short summary of the potential dominoes going down I thought.http://www.businessinsider.com/this-is-what-will-happen-if-greece-defaults-2011-6#

Very interesting BP view of the drivers for Oil Gas Coal Nuclear etc to the Year 2030.   http://www.bp.com/liveassets/bp_internet/globalbp/globalbp_uk_english/reports_and_publications/statistical_energy_review_2008/STAGING/local_assets/2010_downloads/2030_energy_outlook_booklet.pdf   Our starting point in contributing to this debate has been BP’s work on the Statistical Review of World Energy, which this year celebrates its 60th anniversary. The Statistical Review, which documents trends in the production and use of energy, started out as an internal BP document and…

I was idly trawling through the usual free I/C stuff when I came upon this article on a new fund investing in Wine. Not one to pass up the opportunity to extend my acquaintance with a friend who's been with me for the past 25 years I noted that unfortunately its rather closely correlated with my other abiding interest .http://www.investorschronicle.co.uk/Companies/ByEvent/Fundraisings/default/article/20110112/2f5f8c68-1e4a-11e0-8c6c-00144f2af8e8/Aim-toasts-wine-fund-launch.jspAn International Monetary Fund study published this…

Hi T .I've read lots of your posts over the years. I too made lots of money on Burren but BEH struck me as being dull as dishwater for the market cap it floated at. My general comment - as I know you've had a few bad losses is - reengage your right brain side.My observation is its been withering on the vine. http://www.wallstreetoasis.com/blog/right-brain-vs-left-brain-investing Best..

The offer is for 19p per share, which is a significant premium to the price at which the shares have recently traded. However some shareholders believe it undervalues the assets and have called it “opportunistic” bearing in mind that a “Bankable Feasibility Study” will soon be received and the company has very significant cash on the balance sheet. Others might correct me here but a…

Tiswas ...http://business.financialpost.com/2012/05/28/pan-orient-deal-highlights-value-in-bankers-petroleum/ Doesn't mention the oil price he's based his valuation on of course . I think the market's stopped believing in the reserve numbers and /or recoverability for the time being .

Hi Tiswas - I think you've hit the nail on the head with the POO effect on BNK. And serial disappointer of course pre 2012 on guidance as the stockchase page demonstrates- wunderkind Nuttall seems to be particularly hacked off. http://www.stockchase.com/Company-sl--slq-ID-slv-Bankers--Petroleum.php They're certainly getting to be cheap - I've seen recent NAVs of 2.90$/share just for P1 reserves. Was thinking about buying a few this…

I'll just make one observation - you are not going to get anything resembling a proper debate about anything on stockopedia unless you remove the facility for negative reccing of a post.To my knowledge this is the only bulletin board worldwide which currently has this. Really this  can only be justified if the posters  think the opinion expressed is so underesearched /of such abysmal quality…
