Macro economic sector selection.
Happy to take high risk/high reward positions if odds seem favourable.
Where there is crisis there is opportunity.
In preparation for the worst: Bury gold, bury food, own land, buy guns.
In hoping for the best: Buy Oil companies, Gold stocks, Gold ETFs, Agriculture...and watch for turn in Uranium and Base metals. (Turn for base metals will be flagged by Baltic Dry Index)
Believe all currencies vulnerable to panics here. Regard US (and UK) government as essentially bankrupt. Funding debt requirements through taxation would strangle the economy and is likely a political impossibility anyway but printing money will lead to a panic out of both Treasuries and the Dollar . Game Over, insert gold coin.
Would love to hear peoples thoughts on this. US Oil and Gas have drilled a well in Nevada and given positive seeming press releases. ( http://usoil.us/?q=node/202 ) Flow testing etc is starting and being done by Baker Hughes. The company trades on the unregulated "gxg" market. ( gxgmarkets.co.uk ) having been delisted from PLUS. It is an interesting story but i cant help feeling uneasy…
There are numerous signs that we are fast approaching a major market top and that a low has already been put in in the dollar. Put/call ratio. Daily Sentiment Index. Investor Intelligence Advisors' Survey. All show major extremes in bullish sentiment towards stocks. Volume is weak, breadth and momentum waning. Add to this the non confirmation of recent stock index highs by the USD index…
The Ceres plan is to mass produce fuel cell generator/ water heaters which may be run from mains gas supply. This is clever because while a fuel cell is much more efficient than an internal combustion engine these efficiency figures are based on hydrogen input and there is no ready hydrogen supply. The hydrogen must be split off an existing fuel, this however releases heat…
The Uguandan prospect, which Global can earn 50% of, is adjacent to,on trend with ,and in the same basin as Heritage and Tullow's find. Seismic shows traps in place and recent soil sampling shows oil seepage remains which are chemically identical to the Heritage/Tullow oil. This last is considered especially reassuring as the primary drill risk was considered to be the question of whether the…
Key point that ee... From an Argentine point of view the 100's of millions of barrels in the north are a irritant. Multi billion barrel fields in the south, however, will be an incentive. And it won't be just Argentina ...not only will the whole of South America back them (some, such as Chavez, militarily) but the rest of the world isnt overly friendly right…

" Extremely active" season is predicted I gather...
I thought it an extremely weak performance. Why did it take him so long to point out that the blow out protector needed to be raised from the seafloor and examined before conclusions could be drawn by any inquiry? He seemed very evasive continually stating that he needed to wait for the inquiries to come to conclusions. If he early explained why the enquiries didn't…
Very good too see...time for us to stand up to all of this. The latest ludicrousness of a white house spokesman saying BP ought to pay oil workers out of jobs due to the moratorium on deep sea drilling is beyond the pale...why should British pensioners pay because the US administration wants to look into it's regulatory environment?
