What is Stockopedia?

At its heart, Stockopedia is designed as a stock market research network, combining the capacity to connect, inform, discuss and share information. We aim to offer a social media space for investors and a first class collaborative research platform, particularly for less well brokered stocks.

Stockopedia aspires to be the best online research environment for investors comprising:

  • A thriving Bulletin Board community covering all the main investing topics with forums that are easily navigable via strong search and browseable categories.
  • An Encyclopaedia of user generated stock research, combined with an overview of each of the key stocks that we cover, including technical charts, news and an overview of essential fundamental data.
  • A Database of the best articles from the UK investing scene handpicked from our users, the Blogosphere, financial experts, fund manager newsletters and investment tipsheets.
  • A Virtual Trading Platform so that investment ideas can be tested out and different investment approach and performance between investors can be compared over time.

What Stockopedia is not...

  • We are not a substitute for independent financial advice - investing in stocks is a risky business. Please read our Disclaimer.
  • We are not a personal finance website - no pointless mortgage advice or "pump and dump" stock tips etc.
  • We are not an online broker - if you want to actually trade stocks, there are plenty of sites around for this.

Why Stockopedia?

The dissemination of information in the marketplace is still extremely inefficient, and by providing a platform for the aggregation of financial content with the tools to communicate effectively, we hope in some way to bridge the gap. Stockopedia was started by some ex-financiers turned programmers.  We've worked at some of the top financial institutions in the city and want to level the playing field between the institutional and private investor.
