The 5 year growth rate of a firm's Diluted Weighted Average Shares. This is a 5 year compound growth rate calculated as being ending shares outstanding value divided by the starting shares outstanding, to the power of number of years - 1.

This is a measure of equity dilution. When the number of shares outstanding increases, each existing stockholder will own a smaller, or diluted, percentage of the company, making each share less valuable. An increase in the number of shares outstanding can result from a placement, employees exercising stock, or by conversion of convertible bonds, preferred shares or warrants into shares.
