Jun 01st 2012 - Edison Investment Research today published a report on Smiths (SMIN.L, LSE:SMIN, LON:SMIN) entitled "Detecting Progress". In summary, the report says:
Smiths Group recently held an investor day to discuss and demonstrate the market opportunities, product development and operational changes in the Detection business (16% H112 sales). What stood out was the progress achieved in the short time since performance issues plagued the division after last year’s investor day in New York. 60% of senior managers have been changed, facilities rationalised and key opportunities identified following implementation of an enhanced management information system. While work remains to be done, the result is a more robust order book and, with a strong product launch pipeline, the business feels like it is in a positive transition.
