Avocet Mining PLC (Avocet) is a West African gold mining and exploration company with its primary operations in Burkina Faso and Guinea. As of November 27, 2012, Avocet operated one gold mine, Inata in northern Burkina Faso, and had a pipeline of exploration projects in Burkina Faso and Guinea. The deposit at Inata, as of November 27, 2012, consisted of a mineral resource of 4.13 million ounces, and a mineral reserve of 1.85 million ounces. Other assets of the Company in West Africa include exploration permits in Burkina Faso (the prospects include Souma, 20 kilometers from Inata, with a mineral resource of 561,100 ounces) and Guinea (the prospect includes Koulekoun with a mineral resource of 2.15 million ounces). On February 14, 2013, BlackRock Inc sold its entire interest in the Company.
