FINANCIAL BRIEF: For the six months ended 30 June 2003, The Mayflower Corporation plc's turnover decreased 2% to £314.2M. Net loss for the period decreased 44% to £1.8M. Turnover reflects reduced volumes in the UK, North America and the Rest of Europe. Lower net loss reflects improved operating margins, lower loss on associates and lower interest payable. The Mayflower Corporation plc is an engineering group based in the United Kingdom. The Company is comprised of four operating companies: TransBus International, Mayflower Vehicle Systems, Mayflower e3 Engines and Mayflower e3 Energy. TransBus International designs, engineers and manufactures chassis, bodies and complete vehicles. It manufactures lightweight, low-floor, easy-access buses, and owns three major brands: Alexander, Dennis and Plaxton, as well as the United Kingdom-based Kirkby Coach dealership. Mayflower Vehicle Systems designs, engineers and manufactures large-scale automotive stampings and assemblies to the body in white stage. Mayflower e3 Engines focuses on the development of an environmental and fuel-efficient internal combustion engine. Mayflower e3 Energy focuses on the design, manufacture and operation of the Mayflower Resolution, an offshore windfarm installation vessel.
