The Quarto Group, Inc. conducts an international business, whose principal activity is as a publisher of illustrated non-fiction books in co-edition and under its own imprint, for both adults and children. The Company operates in two segments: Book Publishing, and Co-edition Publishing. The imprints, under which the Company produces books in the Book Publishing segment are based in the English speaking countries and have, as their core markets, the geographies in which they operate, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Australasia. Books produced by its Co-edition Publishing segment, by contrast, are intended for audiences worldwide, and are licensed to third-party publishers for publication in their core markets, in the local language. On August 17, 2011, it acquired Frances Lincoln Limited (FLL). In March 2011, the Company acquired Nashville. On February 22, 2011, it acquired 80% of Cool Springs Press LLC (CSP).
