WS Atkins plc (Atkins) is a holding company. The Company is engaged in engineering and design consultancies. It operates in five segments: UK, North America, Middle East, Asia Pacific and Europe, and Energy. In the United Kingdom its areas of operation include water, environment, education, aerospace, defense and infrastructure design. In North America it provides infrastructure planning, engineering, construction management, environmental consulting, urban planning, architecture and program management services. In the Middle East it provides a range of design, engineering and project management services for buildings, transportation and other infrastructure programs. In its Asia Pacific business it provides engineering, planning, urban design, architectural and rail design services. In Hong Kong it delivers services in urban rail development. Its Energy business provides engineering and project management services. On June 3, 2011, the Company acquired Poyry plc.
